Derek Sonderegger, Ph.D.

Sonderegger Derek Wide

I am an associate professor in the department of Mathematics and Statistics  at Northern Arizona Univeristy.

My research is focused on ecological applications of statistics.   I have worked on a wide variety of problems including threshold detection using free-knot splines, effects of elevated CO2 on desert ecosystems using hierarchical Bayesian modeling, the spatial distribution of ocean viruses, and occupancy models using spatially coupled detectors. Recently I’ve been interested in nonparametric methods applied to microbial gene expression data.

Teaching schedule: Spring 2021
