Stat 473 - Probability

This course is designed for mathematics majors who need some exposure to probability. I’ve only taught it a couple of times, but the last time I taught it I tried to teach it in an IBL style.

In IBL, students are responsible for most of the talking and they struggle to prove the fundamental theorems instead of the teacher doing the cool stuff and homework consisting of trivial examples that use the derived formulas.  My friends Dana Earnst and Angie Hodge have a good piece that explains it better:
